Willie L. "Dukem" Johnson, Jr.

Willie L. “Dukem” Johnson, Jr., age 70, of Sidney, passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2023. Willie, fondly known as Duke was born to Willie “Bud” Johnson Sr. and Irene Johnson on February 24, 1953, in Summerville, Georgia.

He moved to Sidney, when he was 6 years of age and attended Sidney High School and obtained his GED and went on to further his education and earned 4 degrees in heating and air conditioning.

Willie enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, playing horseshoes and remaining the King of Dominoes. Willie was a rolling stone! And could fix just about anything. One of Duke’s favorite things was BBQ and family gatherings.

Duke is survived by his nine children, Shira Loges, Erika Gray and husband Chris Gray, Lacrisha Johnson, Shannon Johnson, Willie Johnson III, Brittani Lloyd, Tawana Stockton and Brice Johnson, 22 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.  He is survived by his sisters; Glenda White and Lisa Reichert Laba, also his brothers; Franklin Johnson and Robert Johnson.

Willie was preceded in death by his parents, the love of his life, Ellen Francis, his nephews, Jason and Lance Johnson and a niece, Starla Johnson.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024, from 12 until 1:00 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney.
