William "Bill" Swob Jr. Obituary

William “Bill” R. Swob, Jr., Age 74, passed away peacefully, at his residence in Sidney, OH on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at 10:30 a.m.  He was born on June 3, 1947 to William R and Miriam (Davis) Swob.

On June 24, 1998, He married Kay Marshall.

Mr. Swob is survived by his wife Kay.  He is also survived by his two children, Melissa “Missi” (Rick) Hirschfeld and Mark (Carrie) Swob, two step-children and good friends, Thomas (Andora) Marshall and Jeffrey (Brooke) Marshall.   Ten grandchildren, Lyndsi (Eric) Boggs, Kylie Hopper, McKenzie (Adam Schrack) Hirschfeld, Jayden Drees, Samantha Fairchild, Siera (Trenton) McMichael, Andrew Swob, Summer (Justin Platfoot) Koeper, Dalton Koeper and Jacob Koeper.   Eight great-grandchildren, Lola Hopper, Ezra Boggs, Avalynn, Nora, Barrett, and Elliott McMichael, Emmalyn Platfoot, Camdyn Yeagle, his brother, Sam (Bertha) Swob and sister- in- law Elizabeth Swob.

Preceding him in death are his two siblings, Debbie Schaffner and Randy Swob,  his great granddaughter Eisley Boggs and his beloved pets, Greta and Kelsey.

Mr. Swob was a 1965 graduate from Houston High School.  Upon graduating he continued his education to receive his Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture from The Ohio State University and Master of Education in Science from The Wright State University.

He was a Teacher of Science for 37 years at Fort Loramie Local Schools, touching the lives of hundreds of students that crossed his path. He was a bus driver for Fort Loramie Local Schools for 24 years.

He served as an instructor for several science programs funded by the National Academy of Science such as Buckeye Women in Science, Engineering and Research at The College of Wooster and D.I.G.S, a high school level archaeology program at The Wright State University.  He served as a 4-H club advisor and Science Olympiad coach.

He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose and an avid golfer at Shelby Oaks.

He loved the low county of Hilton Head, South Carolina where he and Kay spent many of their winters.  And in the spring and summer, time was spent with many of his golfing friends to which he cherished and held dear to his heart.

A private ceremony will be held at Houston Congregational Christian Church on Monday, March 28th at 1 pm.

A Celebration of Life, to which, the family welcomes any and all that knew him, will be held at Shelby Oaks Golf Club, 9900 Sidney-Freyburg Rd, Sidney, OH on Sunday April 3rd between 1:00-3:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, family is requesting that a donation be made in his name to The ALS Associations – Central & Southern Ohio Chapter.

Bill will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
