Walter V. Richards, Sr. "Big Bill"

Walter V. Richards Sr. “Big Bill”, age 81, passed away Sunday, May 9, 2021 at his residence. 

He was born August 19, 1939, in Big Springs, West Virginia, to James and Ethel (DeWeese) Richards. On March 18, 1961, he married Linda Lou (Roach) Richards who preceded him in death October 11, 2020.

He is survived by children; Walter (Judy) Richards Jr. of Sidney, Cheryl (Brian) Hastings of Sidney,  Kevin Richards of Sidney, Rhonda (Daniel) Dicke of Sidney, eight grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren. Also surviving are brother Tom Richards of Piqua ,sister-in-law Arbadella Richards of Sidney, sister-in-law Diane Holcomb and brother-in-law Herman Roach Jr., of Sidney, many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, a granddaughter, Sherry Kimbler, brothers; Curt Richards, Sam Richards, James Richards and sister Ethel Jane Richards.

He attended Northtown Church of God in Sidney. He retired from Wagner Corporation and Wells Aluminum after many years of faithful service. He enjoyed working on cars and was one of the first foreign car repairman in the area. He also enjoyed watching Gun Smoke. He was an avid bingo player, playing scratch off and pull tab tickets in his spare time. Walter coached baseball and loved to watch his grandkids play baseball.

Family and friends may visit on Thursday, May 13, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Rd., Sidney.  Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Eddie King officiating.  Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery.
