Virginia Ann (Gibbs) Decker Obituary

Virginia Ann Decker (Gibbs), 87, of Sidney, OH, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.

Virginia was born in Sidney on September 1, 1937, to Harold and Kathryn (Kaser) Gibbs. She graduated from Edison Community College with a Degree in Accounting. Virginia worked as a bookkeeper at Hentrich Enterprises for 16 years until closing in 1996, then Anna Lumber until retiring in 2002, while volunteering for the Wilson Memorial Hospital Auxiliary starting in 1976, where she met many friends. Although not boastful, it is noted that she placed high in the State of Ohio for Mathematics while at Sidney High School. She remained active with her SHS class of '55 classmates and enjoyed their lunchtime social gatherings and the "Pizza Girls" Bridge Club. She was a member of St. Paul's Church of Christ for many years, where her grandfather, Charles Kaser, placed the cornerstone of the church and then also worshipped at the First Christian Church. She was a Girl Scout leader for 19 years. She enjoyed a lifetime of watching the Cincinnati Reds, which started at an early age with her parents, and she rooted for the Ohio State Buckeyes Football and Basketball teams, plus local schools in all sports and activities. Also, sharp and active, she enjoyed solving sudoku puzzles, starting with the hardest ones first, reading volumes of library books, and working on jigsaw puzzles. Like her mother, she was a talented seamstress who supported friends and crafted the Sidney High Cheerleaders outfits for many years.

Virginia was known for her beautiful smile, kindness, unwavering faith, and love of cooking. Her kitchen was a place of warmth and comfort, where she delighted in preparing and sharing delicious meals. When her kitchen was idle and her family was visiting, she enjoyed sharing many delicious Cassano pizzas.

She is survived by her brother John Gibbs (Janet Ness) of Seattle, WA., children, Cindy Pulfer of Lakewood, CA, and Robert Decker (Michelle) of Folly Beach, SC, and her five grandchildren, Lucas (Lott) Broaddrick, and great-grandson Finn, Megan and Danny Pulfer, Michael and Jeana Decker, and her partner's family of Eugene Taylor (deceased). Her special friends include Connie Harlamert, the class of '76 girls, special friends and neighbors Bill and Linda Gertner, and her Cheryl Place friends, who are wonderfully supportive neighbors.

A celebration of Life will be held at Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney, Ohio, on Monday, May 5, 2025, at 10:00 AM, with services to follow at noon with Pastor Jim Oates officiating.  Internment at Cedar Point Cemetery, Pasco.
