Virginia Dorothy Poeppelman, 96 years old, passed away on January 10, 2026, at 5:53 AM at Vancrest of St Marys.She was born July 22, 1929, at her childhood home in Botkins, Ohio, the daughter of the late Joseph and Elenora (Schnippel) Dietz.
She married Wilbur Poeppelman on June 30, 1951, and is survived by seven sons and five daughters: Mrs. (Douglas) Dorothy Wuebker of Saint Johns, AZ, Bernie (Barbara) Poeppelman of McCartyville, OH, Edward (Darlene) Poeppelman of Wapakoneta, OH, Richard (Joan) Poeppelman of Sidney, OH, Gerald Poeppelman of Wapakoneta, OH, Virgil (Leta) Poeppelman of LaRue, OH, Mrs, (Richard) Rose McCullough of Wapakoneta, OH, Mrs, (Michael) Mary Vorhees of Wapakoneta, OH, Robert (Tresa) Poeppelman of Troy, OH, Daniel (Julie) Poeppelman of Miamisburg, OH, Teresa Poeppelman of Cridersville, OH, and Mrs. (David) Angela VanHook of Sidney, OH; 23 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Poeppelman; an infant daughter, Mary Poeppelman; father and mother, Joseph and Elenora (Schnippel) Dietz; father-in-law and mother-in-law, August and Mary (Lehmkuhl) Poeppelman; four sisters, Rosella (Clarence) Martin, Luella (Daniel) Murphy, Genevieve (Leon) Etgen, Henrietta (Joseph) Knopp; three brothers, Eugene (Mary) Dietz, Clifford (Grace) Dietz, Charles (Erma) Dietz; 5 sisters-in-law, Helen (Julius) Koverman- (Ray) Hoying, Adele (Arthur) Huecker, Viola Poeppelman, Verona (Carl) Flaute, Alma (Ray) Heilers; 3 brothers-in-law, Clarence (Martha) Poeppelman, Orville (Dorothy) Poeppelman, Donald (Verona) Poeppelman; and two grandsons.
Mrs. Poeppelman was retired from Copeland in Wapakoneta but was mostly known for working at Fisher Cheese. Virginia was a devout member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where she was a member of the Ladies Sodality. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on January 16, 2026 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Botkins, OH by the Rev. Ethan Hoying. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in McCartyville, OH.
Friends may call on January 15, 2026, from 3-8 PM or January 16, 2026 from 9:00-9:30 AM at Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney, OH.
