Thomas "Tom" Lochard Obituary

Thomas “Tom” Wallace Lochard, 79, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at home. He was born August 1, 1945, in Sidney, to Hugh and Viola (Kies) Lochard of Maplewood.

On November 11, 1967, he married Virginia “Ginny” (Clark) Lochard who survives him along with their three children: Teresa (Matt) Sternberg of Mentor, Ohio, Linda (Eddy) Allen of Sidney, and David Lochard (Jennifer) of Troy.  Tom was a proud grandfather to six boys and one girl, Austin Sternberg, Mitchell, Sean and Ryan Allen, Gavin, Gage and Gabby Lochard, and two great grandsons, Corbin and Weston Allen. Also surviving is sister, Karen (Tom) Woodruff of Jackson Center and sister-in-law, Dana Lochard of Pickerington, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by brother, Jerry Lochard.

Tom was a 1963 graduate of Jackson Center High School where he played basketball. He worked 42 years at Alcoa in Sidney, most recently as Warehouse Manifester.

Tom loved kids. From Easter Bunny outfit to Boy Scouts, he would be there for the kids. He was with Boy Scout Troop 188 and earned a Wood Badge from the Miami

Valley Council. He also loved classic muscle cars. He enjoyed car shows and later in life, he owned a 1972 Plymouth RoadRunner. Tom joined the Maplewood Tractor Club, owning a mini Farmall Tractor for fairs and festivals. Tom and Dave went to many tractor pull events and joined the Mid-West Mini Pullers. Tom was a Maplewood Volunteer Fireman, a member of Maplewood Global Methodist Church and Maplewood Grange. Tom was involved with his community, always willing to help. He used his golf cart at local events, such as the Civil War

re-enactment at Tawawa Park, Alcoa Gathering, festivals, wherever he could help out and chat with everyone he met. Tom never met a stranger.

Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney, will host the service on Saturday,

July 19, 2025. Viewing is at 10:00 a.m., service is at 12:00 p.m. Burial will be at Glenn Cemetery in Port Jefferson. 

Donations may be sent to Maplewood Fire Department or Wilson Health Hospice in Tom’s memory.
