Thomas James Vernon, age 73, of Sidney, Ohio, passed away January 2,2026, at Wilson Memorial Hospital Sidney, Ohio. His wife, son, and daughter was by his side. Tom was born May 1st, 1952, in Dayton, Ohio.
He is survived by his loving wife Rhonda (Seitner) Vernon, his two sons Sean Vernon, William (Erin) Vernon two daughters Aimee Vernon, Patricia Vernon (Kyle) two brothers, Bill Vernon (Rose), John Vernon (June) Sister-in-laws, Susan Baker, Barbara Stroud, and Nancy Hurley. Tom had grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces he loved and adored.
Tom was preceded in death with his father Clarence Vernon, mother Ruth Hauser, and sister Joan Nauroth (Frank).
He dedicated his life to hard work and craftsmanship beginning his career in steel fabrication at just 18 years old. In the year 1994 Tom opened his own steel fabrication shop ,Tower Steel, after 16 years he closed the business. After more than five decades in the industry, Tom retired in August 2025 from Mad River Steel, New Carlisle, Ohio , owner John Bobo. Tom was always saying to me "I could have never known or worked for a greater man". Thanks John and Julie.
His work ethic, skill and commitment were a source of pride for both his family and for those who worked alongside him.
Tom will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, friend to many, and family man whose life was defined by loyalty, perseverance, and quiet strength.
He is going to be missed!
A Celebration of Life will be held January 24th, 2026, at Sidney Veterans Ctr.,1265 Fourth Avenue, Sidney, Ohio, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Family and friends are welcome to attend and share memories in honor of Tom’s life.
