Steven "Hair Bear" Robert Nicholas

Steven “Hair Bear” Robert Nicholas, 77, of Russia, OH, passed away peacefully on July 04, 2025.

“Steve” was born to the late Joseph H. and Bertha J. Nicholas (Scarbury) on January 30th, 1948, in Morehead City, NC. He was raised and spent most of his adult life in Piqua, Ohio. He graduated from Piqua Central High School in 1966. He served honorably in the US Navy from 1966-1970 and was a Vietnam Veteran. Steve was well known as a “free spirit” with a kind heart. He was an avid Harley-Davidson motorcycle rider for many years. Steve’s family, friends, and colleagues knew him as “Hair Bear”. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and spreading joy and laughter with all he encountered. He was a long-time member of the Eagles and a Haymaker at the Redmans Club in Troy, Ohio

Steve is survived by his three children: Tracy Lynn Small (Chad); Travis Nicholas (Dawn), and Talon Nicholas. Other survivors include two brothers, Ron Nicholas (Rene) and Thom Nicholas (Nancy). Steve was blessed with nine grandchildren, Chad (Amelia), Chelsea, Alexis (Joe), Dane, Mariah (Zachary), Trevor (Korie), Truman, Kennedy and Peyton; Six great grandchildren Simon, Rueben, Emma, JoLynn, Toma and Theodore, and several nieces and nephews. Steve will be deeply missed by his loving family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held for Steve on August 2, 2025, at the Redman’s Picnic Grounds at 12:00.  2855 W. Stanfield Rd., Troy, Ohio 45373
