Shirley Ann (Bell) Gillem, age 81, of Anna, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 22, 2024, surrounded by family members after a short term illness at Lima Memorial Hospital Hospice. She was born November 12, 1942, to the late Forest A. “Mike” and Mary Ellen Virginia (Jones) Bell in Bellefontaine. She married Johnnie Harold Gillem in 1973 and he preceded her in death.
Shirley is survived by children: Lorraine Amber Silvers of Botkins, Shonn Thomas Silvers of Piqua, Bobby Ray (Kimberly) Gillem of Arcanum; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; sisters: Judy Webb of Troy and Terry Beech of DeGraff; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son: Jeffrey Scott Silvers.
Shirley was a member of Connection Point (First Church of God). She retired from Copeland Corporation after 35 years. For many years, she quilted church lap robes for veterans and cancer patients. She loved to read, paint ceramics and do crafts of many kinds. Shirley was a former cosmetologist. She loved camping with her late husband and grandchildren.
Family will receive friends from 9:00-11:00 AM on Monday, April 1, 2024, at Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney. Service will follow at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Mark Kaufman officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Union Cemetery in DeGraff.
