Shirley Ann Helen (Rumpff) Cotterman was born on November 27, 1937 in St. Marys, Ohio to Robert & Lucille (Roettger) Rumpff (deceased).
On February 21, 2023, Shirley was greeted at the gates of Heaven by the “love of her life” Edwin Leroy Cotterman. Ed was perched atop a shiny Harley Davidson and together they set off through the clouds in search of new adventures. Shirley was an incredible mother & role model to her two daughters, Lori Ann Werling (Mark Jordan) and Lisa Lyn (Lonnie) Werling. Shirley affectionately known as “Modowney” or “NeNe” by those who loved her most was blessed with four granddaughters Heather Leigh (Matt Creasey) Werling, Tabitha Werling, Brooke Lyn Werling, and Emily LeAnn (Keegan Smith) Werling and was a blessing to her three “great grands”: Averi Grace, Braxton, and Zenna Jo.
She had one brother, Roger (Linda) Rumpff, Sidney, one younger sister, Nancy Gibson (Bud Gibson, deceased), St. Marys, a very special cousin, Darlene Neumann, Sidney, and three nephews, Mike Gibson, Greg Rumpff, & Brett Rumpff.
Mrs. Cotterman retired from Wagner Manufacturing (General Housewares) after 40 years of dedicated service working as a lathe operator and then later in the shipping department. Shirley enjoyed attending the monthly Wagner Retiree Breakfasts to catch up with lifelong friends that she made during her years at Wagner. She also volunteered at FISH on Tuesdays for many, many years and was a very generous & giving lady who loved to help others.
Shirley loved to cook and was excited to try new recipes on family. She offered “casserole night” to her daughters each week and would have a hot casserole ready & waiting for pick up as they drove by her house on their way home from work.
Shirley loved traveling with her husband to Vegas, Tunica, Mt. Pleasant, or anywhere else that had a casino. She claimed to be Elvis Presley’s biggest fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR, playing Candy Crush, and just relaxing on her porch watching cars drive by. In their senior years, Ed & Shirley adopted a baby doll Persian rescue cat from the Shelby County Humane Society that they proceeded to spoil rotten.
Shirley was loved & cherished by many but has now gained her wings and will surely be an angel watching over us until we are fortunate to be reunited with her once again.
There will be no calling hours. A small graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. with family & friends at Pearl Cemetery on Friday, February 24, 2023 officiated by Pastor Doug Thobe.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Shelby County Ohio Humane Society, PO Box 203, Sidney, OH 45365.
