Sherry Lynn (Pemberton) Abrell

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Sherry Lynn Abrell, who departed this life peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on July 3rd, 2025 at 70 years old. Sherry was a devoted and loving wife to her husband, Steve Abrell, with whom she shared over 44 years of marriage, having wed on March 15, 1980. She was a gentle, caring, and selfless mother to Jennifer Abrell (Steve Snider), always putting her faith and family above all else.

Born in Shelbyville, Indiana, on February 20, 1955, Sherry was the eldest child of William Frederick Pemberton and Shirley (Shifflett) Hiatt, both of whom preceded her in death. She was the oldest of five siblings and is survived by two of her siblings, as well as their children. She also leaves behind her sister in-law Staci Wall (Scott), nephew Chris Wall (Stephanie), and niece Kara Wall.

Sherry was a woman of deep Christian faith and a faithful member of Only Believe Ministries for over 30 years. Her spiritual journey began at the age of 10 at a Baptist Temple in Shelbyville, where she faithfully rode the church bus each week to attend services led by her uncle. She loved the Lord with all her heart, spirit, and soul, and her family takes comfort in knowing she is now in the presence of Jesus. She found joy in life’s simplest blessings—a beautiful sunrise or sunset, the peaceful cooing of doves in nearby trees, time spent in prayer and worship, and tending to her garden. Sherry was an excellent cook, a gifted decorator and crafter, and had a remarkable talent for creating a warm, organized, and welcoming home. She always went out of her way to be kind and helpful to others.

Professionally, Sherry spent five years as a preschool teacher at Kiddieland and the YMCA, before opening her own faith-based in-home childcare, which she lovingly operated for over 10 years. Through this work, she touched the lives of countless children and families—more than she may have ever realized.

Funeral services will be held at Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Rd., Sidney, Ohio 45365 on Wednesday July 9th, 2025. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m., followed by a service at 11:30 a.m., officiated by Pastor Phyllis Doseck. Burial will take place at Pearl Cemetery, 11095 County Rd. 25A N., Anna, Ohio 45302.
