Sara L. Fleming of Sidney passed away September 12, 2023 at Shelby Skilled Care
Center in Sidney. She was born November 29th, 1942 in Frakes, Kentucky, the daughter of Scott and Martha Jane Maiden Orick, who preceded her in death. On April 3rd, 1961 she married Sherman Fleming, who survives.
Sara is survived by son David Fleming, his fiance Lori Fahnestock, daughter Machelle and her husband Ned Burden. Grandchildren Travis (Tracie) Fleming, Ryan (Cindy) Fleming, Caitlynn (Craig) O’Meara, Benjamin (Krystal) Gates, Chelsea (Eric) Whitt,
Sandy (Christian) Grabasch and Glen Burden (Rachel Sailor), sisters Shirley Sloan, Renee’ Deathrick, Claire Sandel and eighteen great grandchildren.
Grandson, Ned (Bud) Burden III, brothers Ishmel, Paul and Eldon Orick, sisters Ruby Murrell and Mary Argetus preceded her death.
Sara retired from the laundry department at Fairhaven Nursing Home and later served as the assistant to the manager at Northbook and Lakeside Village Mobile Home Parks.
She was a lifelong member of Sidney, (Wagner Ave.) Church of God where she was a former Sunday School Secretary. She was a prayer warrior and encourager who tirelessly mailed happy birthday, thinking of you and get-well soon cards. She will forever be remembered for her peanut butter and lemon lime birthday cakes, hats she wore, her hugs and constant reminders of “I love you Sweetie.”
Family and friends will gather for a celebration of her life, faith and going home Tuesday, September 19th, at Sidney Church of God, 321 Wagner Ave., from 10:00 - 12:00 with Pastor Shane Jackson officiating. Interment will follow at Shelby Memory Gardens in Sidney.
