Ruth Ann Cooper, age 55, of Troy, ran into the arms of Jesus on Friday, May 29, 2026, at Miami County Hospice, Troy, after a long and courageous battle with neuroendocrine cancer. She was born May 11, 1971, in Piqua, to the late Jim Lee Murray and Pamela K. Brinkman.
On September 5, 2015, she married Rob Cooper and he survives. Also surviving are children; Donnie (Ashley) Day of Knoxville, Tn., Cameron (Kayla) Day of Perrysburg, Oh., Jessica (Adriana) Rodriquez of Marion, Oh., Steven (Ingrid) Cooper of Westerville, Oh., Gabrielle (Shelby) Cooper of Washington Court House, Oh., three grandchildren; Brandon, William and Lily Cooper, mother-in-law, Pamela Fergus of Groveport, Oh., "adopted" parents, Ron and Vicki VanHorn of Sidney. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jimmy Murray.
Ruth was a 1989 graduate of Sidney High School. She also graduated from Upper Valley Career Center and Edison College in Piqua. She retired as the Chief Adult Probation Officer, Shelby County Common Pleas Court in 2021. She was the co-founder of Open Heart Church in Sidney. She loved to ride her motorcycle and, most passionately, share Jesus with everyone she encountered. She will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her.
Family and friends may visit on Sunday, June 7, 2026, from 1:00 to 3:00 p..m. and from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 8, 2026, at the Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor John Butts officiating. Burial will follow at the Dayton VA Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Open Heart Church, Hospice of Miami County, the Alpha Community Center or the Christian Motorcyclists Association in Ruth's memory.
