Royal C. Cotterman

Royal C. Cotterman, Sr., age 90, of Sidney passed away on December 25, 2020 at Piqua Health and Rehab Center.  He was born on February 4, 1930 in Shelby County to the late Rolo and Margaret (Small) Cotterman.

Royal was preceded in death by wife, Sarah (Wolaver) Cotterman on August 6, 1999.  On February 2, 2002, he married Erma (Morelock Wenrick Cotterman and she survived.  Royal is also survived by his children: Royal C. Cotterman, Jr. of Sidney, Judy (Robert) Oldham of Sidney, Michael (Deborah) Cotterman of Sumter, SC, Terry (Mellisa) Cotterman of Versailles and Denise (John) McCune of Ft. Loramie; step children: Linda Argabright and Daniel Wenrick, both of Sidney; Siblings: Jeff (Cheryl) Cotterman, Janette (Jim) Kaufman, Peggy Musser and Sue Mahan, all of Sidney; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.  In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter-in-law: Bonnie Wenrick; one grandson; one sister: Sherry Miller; and one brother Max Cotterman.

Royal proudly served his country as a member of the US Army during the Korean War.  He was a member of New Hope Methodist Church in Sidney.  He was also a member of VFW Post 4239 and Sidney American Legion Post 217.  Royal worked for 47 years at Stolle Corporation in Sidney.  He was a dairy farmer for many years.  Royal enjoyed wood working, traveling and restoring his Crosley car.

Graveside services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Shelby Memory Gardens with Pastor Rob Berryman officiating.  Full military honors will be presented by Shelby County Veterans and the US Army.
