Roy Hudson Obituary

Roy N. Hudson passed peacefully from this life the morning of October 19, 2018 at 8:45 a.m. after gradual decline in health. His loving family surrounded him and his special caregivers supported him in Sidney, Ohio (Charles Hudson, Delores Hudson, Angela Hudson, Silvia Stockton, Felicia Southern and Felicia Felk). Roy closed his tired delicate eyes, at the age of ninety in the Ohio Veterans Home Georgetown. Roy was a true American patriot serving both his community and country. He will always be remembered in our hearts and minds.

Roy was preceded in death by wife, Jacqueline Delores Hudson; Charlie Hudson, father: Louise Hudson, mother; Paul Hudson, Robin Hudson, Raymond Hudson, brothers; Ruby Hudson daughter-in-law; Thomas Hudson, Mario Hudson, grandsons; and Dorothy Hudson, granddaughter.

Roy N. Hudson was born on June 25, 1928, in Jackson, Georgia. Roy spent his earlier years in Gainesville, Georgia and was educated in the public-school system. He married Jacqueline Delores Barnes on July 14, 1951, Gainesville, Georgia. Roy later enlisted and served in the United States Army in 1951 during the Korean War and received an honorable discharge. He lived in Buffalo, New York for twenty-five years but later moved to Sidney, Ohio in 1977 where he spent the majority of his life.

Roy loved driving trucks for many years because he could travel the country. Anyone who knew Roy whether it was locals, family and friends remembered him as a loquacious, high-spirited, jovial, fun-loving individual; he was truly the life of the party. He loved both watching and attending sporting events. Additionally, he never missed an opportunity to visit and attend special friends and family events. Roy only drove large cars, particularly Buicks. When you came near him there was a sweet aroma of bergamot tobacco that lingered in the air, from his English pipe. Roy was a gentleman and he was always dressed pristinely while often wearing his country gentleman ivy cap.

He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters Vickie Elaine Hudson , Demetra Delores Hudson and three sons: Emmitt Charles Hudson, Tony Michael Hudson, and Robin Hudson; a sister Blondie Summerour and a brother Charles Sims; grandchildren: Jamal, Evette, Tyrone, Jocelyn, Jacqueline, Dora (Nicole), Brandi, Constance, Jackie, Tammetha, Tameka, Kim, Tony Jr., and Aryssa; great grandchildren: Mandela, Laquita, Antonio, Jamel Jr., Jamaya, Jamel, Kiara, Keishawna, Piper, Autumn, Nico, Zahnyah, and an endless host of nieces, nephews, cousins and very close relatives and friends.
