ROY D. LEWIS, SR., age 83, of Sidney, passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at St. Luke Hospital in Maumee, OH. He was born on July 23, 1937 in Slavens Branch, KY in McCreary County to the late Starling and Sarah (Worley) Lewis.
Roy is survived by three children: Patricia (Robert) Teague of Sidney, Roy D. (Angelique) Lewis, Jr of Toledo and Ronald Lewis of Sidney; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild; sister: Nancy Hecht of Sidney; brother: Ray (Connie Kay) Lewis, Sr. of Sidney; and special friend: Jim Young. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings: Raymond Lewis, Ellard Lewis, Willard Lewis, Addie Hughes and Betty Hamilton.
Roy was a member of Full Gospel Community Church in Sidney. He was a very devoted Christian who read his Bible and meditated for over two hours every day. Roy had read the Bible completely over fifty times. He loved to fish, shoot his guns and enjoyed the mountains and lakes, which he called “God’s Country”. Every time Roy escaped to Kentucky, he loved going to the Smoky Mountains. In his younger years, he liked doing horseback riding and riding his horses in parades horseback riding. Roy retired from Copeland Corporation after 44 years of service. He later retired from Gilardi Foods, where he worked security for 15 years.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Full Gospel Community Church in Sidney with Pastor Jeff Hill and Pastor Joe Kersey officiating. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery in Sidney. Family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Friday at the Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney, OH.
