Ronald Wise Obituary

Ronald L. Wise, 77, of Sidney, passed away on Friday afternoon, July 22nd, 2022.  Ron, also known as Ronnie by his siblings and Pas by his grandchildren and great grandchildren, was born in Sidney, OH on June 4th 1945, the son of late George and Agnes (Blakely) Wise.  He was a graduate of Jackson Center High School in 1963, enlisted in the Navy in July 1965 and he was stationed in Newport, Rhode Island as a pipe fitter. He married Linda K. Wells on July 21st, 1967.  Shortly after marriage, he discharged from the Navy in September 1968 and came back to Ohio to start his family. Ron worked for the City of Sidney for 35 years.

He is survived by his daughter, Tracy (Glen) Eakins, and son, Todd (Faith) Wise; brothers, Robert (Helen) Wise, Roger (Violet) Wise, Roy (Kathy) Wise, Randy (Glenda) Wise, and Ralph (Teri) Wise; two loving sisters-in-law, Rose Wells and Sandy Young; grandson, Derek (Shelby) Eakins, and granddaughter, Kaylee (Patric) Shoup; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He so adored his two great grandsons, Carter and Luke.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda in 2016; brother, Russell Wise, and sister, Bernice Parish; nephew, Terry Wise, and niece, Tiffany Etgen.

Ron joined Iutis Softball Program in 1979 and held many positions such as Historian, Treasurer, President, Softball Chairman, and many more.  Whether he was the chairman or a volunteer, Ron always ensured that the Iutis Club’s Ice Cream Social ran effortlessly.  In addition to these duties, coaching softball was a love of his, serving as a patient and caring mentor for the players.  While he started coaching to spend time with his son, he stayed in the program long enough to coach his grandson; he even created a job for his granddaughter as team bat girl for the Yankees.

Ron and his family were huge Bengals fans. Him and his wife were season ticket holders for many years. They started taking their grandson with them from the time he was a toddler till he was in high school.

Ron and Linda loved to travel.  They traveled to Florida every year together in October, fishing and spending time with family and friends while they were staying down there.  Ron continued this traditional excursion even after his wife’s passing.  Being members of the Venture Motorcycle Club, they traveled with fellow motorcyclists across the country, making fun memories and building lifelong friendships.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 3-8 p.m. Thursday the 28th of July at Adams Funeral Home in Sidney, Ohio.  Ron’s funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday the 29th of July in the funeral home.  Burial will be in Shelby Memory Gardens with full military honors provided by Shelby County Veterans and the US Navy.  The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the care teams at Wilson Health, Miami Valley Hospital, and Versailles Health Care Center for their devoted care of Ron.  To honor Ron’s dedication to the Iutis Softball League and their mission of mentoring boys in the Sidney area, contributions can be made to the Iutis Club, P.O. Box 242 Sidney, OH 45365.
