RODNEY RONALD TURNER, age 76, of Sidney, passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2023, at Fair Haven Nursing Home. He was born on August 20, 1946, in Black Mountain, KY to the late Milburn and Flora Lee (Hensley) Turner. On May 27, 1967, he married the love of his life, Barbara (Hale) Turner, and she precedes him in death.
He is survived by three children: Jenny (Michael) Maxwell, Melanie (Ben) Hinds, both of Sidney, and Jeffrey (Rachel) Turner of Camp Humphreys, Korea; six grandchildren: Lindsy (Sean) Pierce, Grace Rader, Taylor Maxwell, Benjamin Hinds, Alexis Hinds, and Elizabeth Maxwell. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Virgil Turner, James Turner, Milburn Jr. Turner, and sister Brenda Sue Turner.
Rodney was a veteran of the United States Army and a retired worker of many decades at Ross Aluminum Castings. He was a member of the New Life Church in Port Jefferson. He was a devoted Christian and a loving husband and father. He enjoyed spending time with his family and will be remembered for doting on his beloved wife, and playing joyfully with his children and grandchildren. He loved going fishing, attending gospel singings, watching the Dallas Cowboys and playing cards. A kind man, Rodney will be remembered as someone who put his family first and cared about others.
There will be no calling hours. Private family services will be held on August 11, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Cedar Point Cemetery in Pasco. Full military honors will be performed by the Shelby County Veterans and the U.S. Army.
