Richard L. Reading

Richard L. Reading, age 87, of Sidney, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at Wilson Health in Sidney.  He was born on June 16, 1937, in Sidney, to the late Joseph and Edna (Tucker) Reading.  On October 11, 1963, he married Carolyn (Moses) Reading and she survives.

In addition to his wife, Richard is survived by two children: James R. (Dana) Reading of Louisville, KY, and Rodney (Rita) Krites of Sidney; one granddaughter: Tiffany (Fiancé: John Luthman) Krites; two step granddaughters: Jodi Mensching and Danielle Stamper; one step grandson: Klayton Artrip; and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.

Richard proudly served his country as a member of the US Navy during the Vietnam War.  He was a member of Sold Rock Church in Sidney.  Richard was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles #691 in Wapakoneta, Sidney American Legion Post #217; and established the Shelby County Crappie Club.  He retired from Ayts in Botkins and had worked for many years at Baumfolder in Sidney.  Richard loved anything to do with the outdoors and was an avid fisherman.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 3, 2025, at Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney, with Pastor Rodney Reynolds officiating.  Burial will follow in Pearl Cemetery in Anna with full military honors presented by Shelby County Veterans and US Navy.  Family will receive friends from 9:00-11:00 AM on Monday at the funeral home.
