Richard B. "Buck" Buehler Obituary

Richard “Buck” B. Buehler, 71, of Anna passed away Thursday, October 20th, 2022 at Kindred Hospital in Lima, Ohio. He was born October 24th, 1950 to the late Roman and Dorothy (Schafer) Buehler. Buck married his “young” wife, Sonia (Becker) of Botkins, Ohio on November 24th, 1973. He is survived by his wife and children Nykole (Ryan) Brewer of Anna, Kelly (Jared) Dilbone of St. Henry, and Gabrielle (Ben) Freisthler of Anna and Spanish daughter Maria Jemenez. His grandchildren: Addision Brewer, Brianna Brewer, Sophia Brewer, Riley Brewer, Chloe Dilbone, Jonah Dilbone, Brynn Dilbone, Silas Freisthler and Spanish grandchildren Christina Gomez and Sofia Gomez; his siblings: Linda (Mark) Enneking, William (Carol) Buehler, Raymond Buehler, Gary (Molly) Buehler, Mark (Deb) Buehler, Becky Callison, Greg (Judy) Buehler, and Joyce Buehler; his in-laws: Mike Becker, Patti (Steve) Warren, Rafael (Sue) Becker, Rita (Tony) Schemmel, Ted (Jana) Becker, and Bonnie (Bert) Alspaugh also survive. He was preceded in death by his infant sister Kathleen Buehler, brother-in-law James “Bo” Callison, sister-in law Cathrine Becker, and mother and father-in-law Thomas and Janet (Klikovits) Becker.

Buck was a 1968 graduate of Anna High School. After graduating, Buck proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War where he served as plane engine mechanic. He continued to live out his life doing what he loved: diesel mechanics. He started his diesel mechanic career at Rolen Trucking in Sidney, Ohio which lead to his desire to own and operate his own trucking company, Buehler Trucking. At the height of his business he had a fleet of semi-trucks, yard truck, and trailers running across the country.

Buck was a pillar in the community, loved by many, and knew no stranger. He served as a volunteer fireman on the Van Buren Fire Department for over 40 years and proudly served as the Assistant Chief. He worked hard to help build the department to what it is today. His favorite pastime was telling his “true-life adventures” to anyone that would sit and listen. His shop was his think-tank where he was always tinkering and brainstorming new and innovative things.  Everyone always wanted to know what new, crazy idea Buck was working on next. He was a passionate inventor. He held multiple patents and was recognized with 2010 Hi-Tech Innovation Award for his work with Powerwave in California.

Buck, with tiny pliers in hand, wore many hats: hunter, entrepreneur, mechanic, fireman, veteran, story-teller, jokester, but Buck’s favorite and most cherished title was “Dad” only to be trumped by “Grandpa” in later years. There was no greater joy in his life than sharing his advice, jokes, and stories with his family. His love for life and adventure will not be forgotten, and his memory will live on for years to come.
