Reva Maxine (Lehman) Barhorst, age 99, died Monday October 11, 2021 at her home in Sidney, OH where she was surrounded by her family. She was born on March 24th, 1922 in Lima OH to the late George Lehman and Wava (Broshes) Lehman. She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard A. Barhorst, parents, brother Donald Lehman & sister-in-law Betty Lehman.
She was a graduate of Lima Central High in 1940. She then attended Northwestern school of commerce majoring in accounting. She worked using her degree for a few years, until her most important job began, becoming a mother.
On August 14th, 1947 she married the love of her life, Leonard Barhorst. They created a beautiful life on their farm, where they lived out their lives together until the Lord called them both home. Reva was a devoted wife & homemaker. She kept the dairy farm functioning, milking cows & tending their large garden while her husband was at work. Once her husband retired, and the cows were sold Reva & Leonard enjoyed traveling. Her favorite trips were going to Myrtle Beach and looking for sea shells! Reva enjoyed reading, crocheting, crossword puzzles, bird watching, & celebrating all of life's events with her family & balloons for every occasion! She was a member of the Sorelle circle, since her high school days. She was a mother to five: Fred & Connie Barhorst, Peg & Jim Neilan, Pam & Joe Mckee, Jerry & Beth Barhorst and Cheryl Niswonger…Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and a loving Aunt.
She was Loved, Adored, & will truly be missed by her support team: Her daughter Cheryl Niswonger, Her grandchildren Nikki (Niswonger) & Kip Lavy, and Katie Niswonger. She will be missed & her memory cherished by her two great-grandsons, who brought sunshine to her days, Parker & Porter Lavy who thought the world of their Nana. Reva and her husband were members of Holy Angels church.
Friends may call on Monday October 18th from 12-1pm at Adams Funeral home 1401 Fair Rd. Sidney, OH. Services will be held at 1:00pm with Pastor Ralph Schaafsma officiating, burial to follow at Shelby Memorial Gardens. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude’s Childrens research hospital in Reva’s memory.
