Mother Vernice Wilson

Our precious (Mother) Vernice Wilson went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, April 6, 2021. She was born on August 31, 1952 in Sidney Ohio. Mother Wilson married the love of her life and best friend the late Bishop Ernest Lee Wilson.  They shared two lovely children: Veronica Ann Wilson of Powell Ohio and Edwin Lee Wilson of Sidney, Ohio. She was the PROUD Nana of four grandchildren: Elijah, Eleah, Camryn and Emmanuel.

Mother Wilson gave her life to Christ many years ago in Newark, Ohio.  She was an active member of Mt. Zion Church of God Sidney, Ohio, where she served as the church secretary.

She was employed at Alcoa Memory Products for many years until retirement.  She then worked part-time as receptionist at the Sidney Senior Center, as well as Ohio Living Dorothy Love.

She loved cooking and taking care of her family.  She always sacrificed her needs for the good of her family.  She was always supportive, encouraging, wise and kind.

She was a true servant leader.  She loved serving the lord, reading the bible , praying for and with others and spending time with family.  She was a loving and devoted mother, Nana and friend to many, always thinking of others first.  To know my momma was to love my momma!

Mother Wilson was preceded in death by her parents: Henry and Mary Louise (Hines) Jelks; two brothers: Robert (Choice Rab) Jelks and Albert Jelks; and one sister Mamie Hudson.

Left to cherish her memory are two children: Veronica and Edwin Wilson; four grandchildren: Elijah, Eleah, Camryn and Emmanuel; two brothers: John (Tina) Glover and John Pullie (Doris) Jelks; one sister Bonnie (James) Maxey; and a host of special nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Mt. Zion Church of God, 324 Grove Street, Sidney, OH.  Viewing will be on Thursday from 11:00 AM -12:00 PM at the church. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery in Sidney.
