Mildred L. (Liess) Hughes

Mildred L. Hughes, age 92, of Sidney, passed away Sunday, November 2, 2025. She was born October 16, 1933, in Sidney, Ohio, to the late Melvy Liess and Donna (Knasel) Liess.

Mildred was married to Charles Hughes and he preceded her in death January 15, 2009. She was also preceded in death by son, Rick Hughes, one sister and one brother.

She is survived by oldest child, Sharon (Robert “Bob”) Applegate of Sidney, youngest son, Charles “Chuck” (Tabitha) Hughes of Sidney, grandchildren; Bruce Applegate, Stacy and Travis Temple, Derrick Hughes, Chelsea Hughes, Brandon Hughes and fiancée Erin Symonds, Alexis Doyle and fiancé Jonah Huggins, and five great-grandchildren.

Mildred was a member of the St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sidney. She was a Homemaker who enjoyed playing bingo and cards. She loved spending time with her family and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at

Pearl Cemetery in Swanders, with Pastor Steven P. Edmiston, officiating the service.
