Melvin I. Schaub

Melvin I. Schaub, age 92, passed away November 20, 2025, at Elmwood Assisted Living in New Bremen. He was born May 12, 1933, in Rhine, Ohio, to the late Ollie Schaub and Frieda (Steinke) Schaub.

 On June 19, 1954, he married Carol Mae (Clayton) Schaub and she preceded him in death July 6, 2010. He was also preceded by brother Harold (Wanda) Schaub and sister Irene (Arnold) Cecil.

Melvin is survived by daughters,  Chandra (Jeff) Thomas of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Linda Lentz of Minster, three grandchildren; Justin Thomas, Alexandria (Benny) Cruey, Jenna (Chet) Maurer, three great-grandchildren; Jackson Cruey, Aubrielle Cruey and Miriam Cruey.

 Melvin was a farmer and had worked at many places over the years including Botkins Grain & Feed, Plastipak, Ryder Trucking, Quality Ready Mix, Spring Creek Sand & Gravel, Miami River Stone, and Comer Trucking. 

Private graveside service will be held at the discretion of the family. Interment will be at Pearl Cemetery in Botkins.

 In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Grand Lake Hospice in Melvin’s memory.
