Maurice Naseman Obituary

Maurice “Maurie” Lee Naseman, of Botkins, rejoined the Lord October 22, 2018. Born in Celina, Ohio August 8, 1931, to ​Carl L. and Hazel E.J. “Trippy” Naseman,​ he graduated from Anna High School in 1949. He served in the Army during the Korean War, earning the rank of Corporal performing reconnaissance planning work in the 98th EAPR Company. He was awarded the Korean Service Ribbon with two Bronze Service Stars, the United Nations Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. Later he was a proud member of the Singing Soldiers of the American Legion Post 217 in Sidney. He married the love of his life, Doris Emma Roode, August 13, 1955, and worked his entire career for Provico Feeds in Botkins and Marion, Ohio.
 
Maurie was active in Saint Paul Lutheran Church, a member of their choir and a volunteer with the Lutheran Disaster Response Team. In addition to his deep-rooted faith, he leaves a legacy of giving through blood donations, providing over 300 whole blood donations over the course of his life. In his spare time, he could be found golfing, playing bridge, or listening to broadcasts of the Cincinnati Reds.
 
Maurie is survived by his wife, Doris, son William (Suzanne) Naseman, grandchildren Jennifer (Stacey) Swartz, Johnathan (Melissa) Swartz, Andrea (David) Blair, Sarah (Kevin) Elliott, Philip (Katherine) Naseman, Emeric (Rebecca) Naseman, and three great-grandchildren: Austin Swartz, Kathryn Elliott, and Vivian Blair. He is also survived by his sister Rosemary (James) Gianguzzo. 
 
He was preceded in death by children Gregory (Christine) Naseman and Barbara (Mark) Swartz, as well as his parents, brothers Richard (Diane) and Karl (Sally), sisters Pauline (Aloysius) Otting, and half sisters Ruther Perin and Wanda Bartrug. 
 
Visitation will be held at Adams Funeral Home in Sidney Friday, October 26 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Services will be held Saturday, October 27th at 10:00 am at Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Botkins, with viewing one hour prior to service. Pastor Charla Grieves will be officiating services. Full military honors will be held by Sidney American Legion Post 217 and the United States Army at Shelby Memory Gardens Cemetery, Sidney. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hospice, or Alzheimer's Association. Condolences may be expressed online at theadamsfuneralhome.com.
