Mary Chapel (Jones) Foy, age 84, of Sidney, formerly of Lima, passed peacefully on Friday, April 11, 2025, and had been surrounded by her children during her journey home. Mary was born on February 5, 1941, to Wilbert and Olivia (King) Jones in Rogersville, AL, and they preceded her in death. In June, 1960, Mary married Theodis Foy and he preceded her in death.
Mary and Theodis were blessed with seven children: Greg (Yolanda) Foy of West Palm Beach, FL, Crystal (Reuben) Foy of Cincinnati, Kevin (Angela) Foy of Sidney, Kimberly (Kendall) Taylor of Lima, Valarie (Anthony) Bagley of Lima, Terrence Foy of Sidney, and Trevis (Elizabeth) Foy of Sidney. She leaves to mourn a host of grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews. Mary’s surviving siblings are Lula Fields, Thomas Jones, Terry Jones, Joseph Jones, Perry (Simon) Anderson , Junitha Morris, Olivia Jones and Francis Jones. Her siblings that preceded her in death are Curtis Jones, James Jones and Judy Jones.
Mary’s walk with Jesus started at Mt Zion Holy Union Church of God under the pastorship of her father Pastor Wilbur J Jones. She was a longtime member of Philippiane Baptist Church under the pastor ship of Dr. B. Lamonte Monford where she served faithfully on the greeters ministry and Baptism Ministry and she also collected many dimes for the Dime Ministery. She was also a frequent visitor to Shiloh Baptist Church where her cousin Rev. Clevene Jones is the pastor whom she loved dearly.
Mary received a heart transplant in 1998 and had remained in contact with her donor family throughout her life. They held a special place in her heart, literally. Many thanks to the Lee family for the inclusion of Mary in all of those special occasions that she cherished so much. Mary worked hard to help provide the best life for her children. She was an employee of Wagner Manufacturing Company for many years. Mary remained active with Donate Life of Ohio, singing in the church choir and was a talented pianist. Mary also enjoyed traveling with her special cousin/sister Willadean (Ms. Ebony) Miles. We would like to thank Heartland Hospice for the exceptional care and support during this difficult time as well as all the support from our family and loved ones.
Gathering of friends and family will be from 10:00-11:00 AM on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Mt. Zion Church, 324 Grove Street, Sidney. A service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday at the church with Pastor Cleven Jones, Jr., of Lima, officiating. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery in Sidney.
