Mary Jean (Casey) Cable

Mary Jean (Casey) Cable, age 83, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at Versailles Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Versailles, Ohio.

She was born on August 25, 1938, in Columbus, Ohio.  She is preceded in death by her father John Tappy Casey, mother Frances (Bauman) (Casey) Veit, and stepfather Harold Veit. She married Jerome Cable on March 1, 1958, and he preceded her in death on December 20, 2021.

Mary Jean is survived by children: Jeff (Cindy) Cable of Sidney; Gregg (Liz) Cable of Sidney; Kevin (Sherry) Cable of Englewood, Ohio; Dawn Crist of Bradenton, Florida; Mindy (Charles) Pipke of Wapakoneta, Ohio; fourteen grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her sister Margaret (Peg) Luby of Piqua, Ohio and brother in-laws Tom Cable of California, Larry Cable of Sidney, and sister in-laws Jenny Dohner and Beth Cable of Sidney.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Mary Jean is preceded in death by one grandson (Xavier Crist) and many brothers and sister in-law.

She was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sidney and a 1956 graduate of Sidney High School.  She retired from ODOT after many years of faithful service. She was active in Sidney High School Football Moms, served as a Den Mother for Boy Scouts, and participated in card clubs with friends.

She enjoyed shopping, traveling, playing cards, spending time with family, and sharing meals with her group of friends. Mary Jean was passionate about making holidays very special for her family.  She especially enjoyed Sunday get togethers at her parents’ home with family (where she would always find an excuse to get out of doing the dishes!).

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, March 13, 2022, at 4 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney, with Deacon Philip Myers, Celebrant.  The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 p.m. until the time of service. A private burial will be held at a later date.
