He retired from Merchant Industries in 1991 in Bellefontaine after 26 years of faithful service.

He fondly spoke about his 1965 Corvette Sting Ray which helped him meet the love of his life, Janice. He enjoyed being outdoors with nature, mowing grass and tending his garden. In his later years, he spent his afternoons sitting on the front porch with Janice and his faithful dog Lulu. He enjoyed looking at his yard and watching the traffic go by the house. Most of all, he loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He enjoyed listening to their conversations and being part of his family.
