Marie C. Theis, of Sidney, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, February 21, 2025. She was born June 19, 1931, in Minster to the late Frederic Berning and Francis (Wueker) Berning.
She married James A. Theis on July 2, 1955, and he preceded her in death.
Marie is survived by family; Bob and Julie Theis of Celina, Deb Gagermeier of Sidney, William and Mary Theis of Sidney, Joyce (dec) and Jim and Trina Ratliff of Trenton, Illinois, Jim Theis of Sidney, Nancy (dec) and Michael Rethman of Fort Loramie, grandchildren; Janelle and Scott Holthaus, Jenna and Tony Luebke, Jill and Michael Ruchty, Amanda and John Miller, Katie and Andy Koester, Beth and Cheryl Hunter, Joe and Lacey Theis, Michelle Ratliff, Jim Ratliff, Wes and Casey Rethman, Kacie Rethman, Kayla and Ryan Smeltzer, Morgan and Max Pulfer and twenty five great grandchildren.
Brothers and sisters-in-law; Andrew Berning (dec), Sylvester (dec) and Velma Berning, Fred (dec) and Betty (dec) Berning, Nick (dec) and Norma (dec) Bergman, Gene (dec) and Irene Berning.
Marie was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sidney, American Legion Auxiliary Post 217, and Rainbow Garden Club. She formerly worked at Omart and Shelby County Health Department. Marie loved being outside tending to her flower beds, she loved to bake. Marie loved making cookies and pies for the family. She was a great mother, great grandmother and a great-great grandmother and was a role model for all.
Family and friends may visit on Thursday, February 27, 2025, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney. Family and friends may also visit on Friday, February 28, 2025, from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will commence at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 324 S. Ohio Avenue, Sidney, with Fr. Andrew Reckers officiating. Interment will be at Shelby Memory Gardens in Sidney.
