Lora M. Hughes, age 86, of Sidney, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at Wilson Health, Sidney. She was born September 10, 1937, in Highland County, Ohio, to the late Roy and Frankie (Lyons) Gibson.
She married Homer Hughes on September 10, 1953.
Lora is survived by four children; Homer Hughes Jr. of New Mexico, Beverly Dianne Schroer of Anna, Raymond Hughes (Donna) of Stern, KY., Jerry Hughes (Judy) of Greenville, Barbara Ostrander (deceased) of Houston, Seventeen
(2 deceased) grandchildren; Tracey Parish (deceased), Danny Hughes, Ronald Bowman, Chrissy Hughes (deceased), Jason Hughes, Roger Schroer, Joe Schroer, Misty Johnson, Bob Hughes, Lesli Richard, Tara McDermit, Ray Hughes Jr., Jill Hughes, Christopher Hughes, Dusty Hughes, Matthew Hughes-Ostrander, Devyn Ostrander. Also surviving are 17 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild.
Lora was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Frankie Gibson, husband, Homer Hughes Sr., daughter, Barbara Ostrander and husband, Jim Ostrander, son-in-law, Gary Lee Schroer, brother, Calvin Gibson, sisters: Martha Shelley and brother-in-law, Forrest Shelley and Betty Davis and brother-in-law, Marvin Davis, grandchildren: Chrissy Hughes and Tracey Parish.
Lora was a member of Houston C.C. Church and choir. She was baptized at Houston church by Jim Manual. She was re-baptized by Greg Marrow. She worked at Copeland Corporation for 13 years. She loved to spend time with her family and friends. Her hobbies were puzzles, word search, watching TV, attending garage sales and flea markets.
She wanted to thank everyone who took care of her.
Family and friends may visit on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. until
1:00 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Kris Geise, officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery.
