Leonard "Big Foot" A. Barhorst

Leonard “Bigfoot” A. Barhorst, age 96, died Friday August 20th, 2021 peacefully at his home in Sidney, OH where he was surrounded by his family. He was born on June 28th, 1925 in Sidney, OH to the late Adolph H. and Rosa( Kuther) Barhorst. He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings Lawerence Barhorst, Martha (Barhorst) Madigan, and two infant brothers. On August 14, 1947 he married the love of his life Reva Maxine(Lehman) Barhorst. They created a beautiful life on their farm, where they still reside today. Leonard was a hardworking man, and a jack of all trades. Farming was his lifework and passion. He also did factory work to make ends meet, putting in three years at Monarch and 32 years at Copeland where he retired. Once retired, he enjoyed traveling with his wife. His favorite trips always included watching the ships at the Soolocks.

He was a father to five- Fred & Connie Barhorst, Peg & Jim Neilan, Pam & Joe Mckee, Jerry & Beth Barhorst, and Cheryl (Barhorst) Niswonger… grandfather, great-grandfather, and a loving Uncle. He was very loved and will be truly missed by his soulmate of 74 years, Reva, his daughter Cheryl Niswonger, grandchildren Nikki(Niswonger) Lavy, her husband Kip Lavy, and Katie Niswonger who were his support team and caregivers. He will be remembered & missed most of all by “the apples of his eye” his great grandchildren Parker Leonard Lavy and Porter E. Lavy who brought sunshine to his days! Leonard and his wife were members of Holy Angels church and he was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Sidney

Friends may call on Friday, August 27th from 12-1pm at Adams Funeral home 1401 Fair rd. Sidney, Oh Services at 1:00pm with Father Jarred Kohn officiating. Burial to follow at Shelby Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St.Judes Childrens research hospital in Leonards memory
