He is survived by two daughters: Joanna Calhoun and Angela (Matthew) Gold of Sidney and one Son, Jason Calhoun of Jackson Center: grandchildren Chelsea (Chris) Terry, Brandon (Erin Symonds) Hughes, Noah (Katelyn Shiverdecker) Calhoun, Natalie Calhoun, Justin Gates, Candon Calhoun, Jaydon Calhoun, Kaitlyn (Matthew) Glass, Hailey Gold, Zack Gold, Avery Howell and Megan Hilyard and 15 great grandchildren.  Leon is also survived by Sisters Shelby Holloway, Teresa (Gene) Holloway, Joyce Reed and brother Jimmy (Dorothy) Calhoun along with many in-laws and nieces and nephews and cousins.

Leon retired from Copeland after 36 years of dedicated service which included being active in the local IUE-CWA.  He was a union steward for many years during his tenure at Copeland, even withstanding the strike of 1975-1976.  Leon was a “neighborhood sheriff” as termed by many as he was always seen driving the Green Tree Hills area checking on his friends and neighbors, including Christopher Watercutter and Matthew Rexroth he considered two of his own children. Leon proudly spoke of his letter of appreciation received from then Sidney Police Chief Steve Wearly for physically capturing and holding a car theft suspect in 1995 at Harmon Park as the suspect was running from the police thru the park while Leon was attending an IUTIS game.  Leon was of the Christian Faith.
