Lena Lewana "Wanda" Gunter, age 96, of Sidney, Ohio, passed away peacefully on March 11,2026.
Lena, lovingly known to most as Wanda, was born in Liberty, Kentucky to the late Pastle and Nora (Wininger) Lee.
Wanda was a woman who truly loved people. She enjoyed being around family, spending time out in the community, and even sitting and people-watching wherever she went. She never met a stranger and was known by many for her kind heart, sweet spirit, and warm smile. Those who knew her often spoke about how loving and gentle she was to everyone she met.
She was also known as one of the best cooks around. Her kitchen was a place where family gathered and where many memories were made over home-cooked meals. Wanda had a unique habit that many will fondly remember—whenever she visited local stores, you might find her straightening and fixing the products on the shelves, always wanting things to look just right.
Above all else, Wanda was a faithful Christian who loved the Lord deeply. She never missed an opportunity to tell someone about being saved and sharing the hope of her faith. Her love for God and for people was evident in the way she lived her life each day.
Wanda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Carl Gunter on August 4, 1993, and her dear children, Jimmy Gunter, Patsy Kunzman, Larry Gunter, and Edward Gunter. Sister Imogen Cantrell, Brothers Melvin Lee and Russell Lee.
She leaves behind her 2 loving sisters Mary McBride & Annetta Owens. Her legacy continues through 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren, along with many caring neighbors and friends who looked out for her and loved her dearly.
Wanda lived a long and full life. Though she experienced difficult seasons along the way, she faced them with strength and faith. No matter the circumstances, you could almost always find her wearing a smile.
Her kindness, warmth, and unwavering faith will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the blessing of knowing her.
