Kathleen (Henderson) Waldroop (80) of Valley Creek Tenn. Entered into eternal rest January 23, 2021.. She was the retired house-wife of the late Samuel Waldroop. Kathleen was raised south of the Mason Dixon Line and was a real life Coal-Miner’s Daughter and related so well to the famous song. She was preceded in death by parents Claude & Vernia (Parton) Henderson. Also preceded by 4 grandchildren; Ronnie Waldroop Jr., Samuel Waldroop III, Robert Mowery and Travis Lynn Waldroop, and one great grandchild, Marcus Simonds.
She was also preceded in death by siblings and in-laws, nephews and nieces; Elbert Henderson, widowing wife Shirley Henderson, nephew Danny Henderson, sister Beulah & Ed Chavis. Brother Peabo Henderson & son Charles, daughter Marilynn, widowing wife Eleanor Henderson, Sister Evelyn & Fargo Patterson & son Deano, brother Ancil & Shirley Henderson, Brother Tracy Henderson widowed Cathleen Henderson, Margie Henderson deceased. Brothers in-law Roy Rodgers, Bo Claxton, Gerald Coker, sister In-law Carol Henderson and her daughter Rhonda (Henderson) Young, sons in-law, Bruce Hoskins, Mark Simonds, daughter in- law Nelda Cross.
She is survived by 5 children and 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Sons; Ronnie Waldroop, Samuel & Gerri Waldroop, daughter’s Lisa (Waldroop) Hoskins & mate Joe Morrison, Glenna (Waldroop) Limbert, youngest son Jamie Waldroop & mate Sarah Doak.
Survivors also include brothers & spouses, Joey & Denise Henderson, Wayne & Shirley Henderson, Ronnie & Tammie Henderson, Willie Gene & Loretta Henderson, sisters, Betty Lou Claxton, and Virgie Coker.
Kathleen enjoyed being a housewife, mother and grandmother. Earlier in life, she was a feature singer/song-writer. She was a real hit locally with brother in-law band leader Dave Waldroop and the Country Ramblers. But most of all a loving mother with faith in God, devoted to her children & all the babies, is how she will be remembered.
Family and friends may visit on Friday, January 29, 2021, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Ernie Jones, officiating. Interment will follow at Shelby Memory Gardens, Sidney.
