Joseph "Hoss" A. Benanzer, 61, of Sidney, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on June 20th, 2025, at Lima Memorial Hospital.
Born on November 28th, 1963, Joe was the son of the late Albert Benanzer and Eleanor Edwards. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and later spent 16 years working at Stolle. But it was his voice and presence as a beloved karaoke DJ that made him a well-known and loved figure in his community.
Joe was a gentle, kind-hearted man who deeply loved the Lord. He was a proud member of Connection Point Church, where he could often be found singing with his whole heart. You could also find him sitting in his truck around town jamming with the volume turned all the way up. Whether he was singing worship, cheering on the Reds, Bengals, or Buckeyes, sitting in the stands at one of his grandkids' games, listening to his kids sing or watching them play sports, Joe showed up with unwavering love and support.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 40 years, Jill (Blackford) Benanzer, and their three children: Janelle (Scott) Hillard, Jodi (Brian) York, and Jacob (and fiancée Brittany)Benanzer. Joe was a proud and loving "Papaw" to six grandchildren: Madelynn, Matthew, Marshall, Emma, Wyatt, and Baker. His legacy of faith, family, and music lives on through them.
Joe never missed a ball game or an opportunity to tell someone about Jesus. His life was a reflection of his faith, and he touched every person he met with warmth, humor, and grace.
A celebration of Joe's life will be held on July 2nd at Connection Point Church in Sidney. Service begins at 6:30.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made toward the addition of a new children's wing at Connection Point Church, a project close to Joe's heart.
Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney, has been entrusted with all funeral arrangements.
