Joseph E. Francis, age 79, of Piqua, passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at his residence. He was born on April 26, 1943 in Piqua to the late Cletus and Catherine (Groff) Francis. In 1989, he married Sharon Kay (Clark) Francis and she survives.
In addition to his wife, Joe is survived by one daughter: Kelly McCullough of Eaton; one son: Daniel (Amy) Francis of Sidney; five siblings: Marlene Weigel of Piqua, , Anne (Tom) Koehl of Piqua, Thomas (Annette) Francis of Sidney, Cathy Francis of Columbus and Jackie (Michael) Dunson of Sidney; two grandsons; six granddaughters; and 13 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son: Scott Blackford; one daughter: Brenda Scott; one brother: Patrick Francis; and one brother-in-law: John Weigel.
Joe proudly served his county as a member of the US Navy during the Cuban Crisis. He retired from Goodrich in Troy. Joe was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Piqua. He chaired many AA meetings throughout the area. Joe was a very avid race fan, with Harry Gant as his favorite driver. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother. Joe will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Celebration of Life will be held from 9:00-11:00 AM on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney, with Fr. Daniel P. Hunt officiating. Full military honors will be provided by the Shelby County Veterans and US Navy.
