Joseph C. Hammer

Joseph C. Hammer, age 74, of Sidney, passed away peacefully June 6, 2022, surrounded by his loving family at his residence.  He was born December 27, 1947, in Sidney, to the late Robert Hammer and Wilma (Scholl) Hammer.

He married Belle (Wolaver) Hammer and she preceded him in death, October 23, 2019. He was also preceded in death by son Curtis Hammer, two brothers and one sister.

Joseph is survived by daughter Edith (Shawn) Woods of Sidney, sons; Robert Hammer and Tyrom Hammer of Sidney; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and brother Bill Hammer of Sidney.  In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one son: Mark Hammer.

Joseph was a retired factory worker who enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, camping and woodworking.  He loved spending time with his grandchildren, especially their road trips to the candy store. He also enjoyed the companionship of his cocker spaniels’.

Family and friends may visit on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon at the Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney. Burial will follow at Shelby Memory Gardens, Sidney. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Wilson Memorial Hospice in Joseph’s memory.
