John B Osborne, Age 99 of Sidney, went to be with his lord and savior on Saturday October 12, 2024, at Ohio’s Hospice of Miami County Inpatient Unit in Troy Ohio. He went peacefully with family by his side.
He was born on December 15th, 1924, to the late Johnny Lewis and Sally Jane (Strunk) Osborne of Jellico, Tennessee.
John is survived by Children; David E. (Mary) Osborne of Ft. Loramie, Ohio, James E (Donna) Osborne of Hartselle, Alabama, and John W (Linda) Wright (Osborne) of Berea, Kentucky and One Daughter, Johnna R (Osborne) North of Sidney along with special friend and caretaker, Sondra K Wolford. John has one stepson Clark D. Bishop, of Sidney.
John also has Grandchildren; Tina Roberts of Dayton, Ohio, Tammy Egbert of Sidney, Jim Osborne of Anna, Tim Osborne of Jackson Center, Jonathan Hickman of Columbus, Eric Hickman of Sidney, Kristie (William) Birdsong (Osborne) of Rome, Ga., Amanda Voss (Osborne) of Hartselle, AL, Tiffany (Matt) Murphy (Wright-Osborne) of Abbville AL, Asher (Carly) Wright (Osborne) of Ashford, AL , John D. Bishop of Tipp City( Ohio Army National Guards), Phillip G Bishop II of Texas, Marc (Mary) Bishop of Sidney, Craig (Kristen) Bishop of Arizona, Bradley (Sue) Bishop of Sidney, and numerous Great Grandchildren and Great- Great Grandchildren
In Addition to John’s Parents, he was proceeded in death by his wife Kathleen (Hughes)Osborne Who passed away on Jan 15th, 1999, One Daughter Judith Ann Sollman, One Son, Roger D Osborne, and One Stepson, Phillip G Bishop I. Three Brothers, Carl Osborne, Charlie Osborne, and Earl Osborne.
John was the longest surviving member of the Sidney Church of God. He was a pillar and light to all who attended the church over the years. John ministered to many people through prayer and song. Hundreds of people depended on John for his heart-felt prayers filled with faith and passion. His love for Jesus and his love for people was evident to all who knew him. He loved to listen to sound preaching and even more discuss the Bible.
John’s life was the stuff of adventure novels. He put the great in the Greatest Generation. He was a highly decorated soldier who served with honor in WW2. Included in his commendation are two Purple Hearts.
John enjoyed fishing with his children, camping and playing music by the campfire. He loved his family with all of his heart, his family at home and his church family. He retired from Miami Industries after 32 years of service.
Funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney, with Pastor Shane Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery in Sidney with full military honors presented by Shelby County Honor Guard and US Army. Family will receive friends from 10:00 AM – 12:00 Noon on Wednesday at the funeral home.
