With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of John (Thongchan) Nanthalangsy, who peacefully departed this life on May 24, 2025, in Sidney, Ohio, at the age of 73. He was born on January 1, 1952, in Napong, Laos.
John came to the United States in 1980 in pursuit of a better life for himself and his family. Through perseverance, humility, and hard work, he built a new beginning in a new land. He worked for many years as a dedicated machine operator at Rosewood Machine and Tool, where he was known for his reliability and strong work ethic.
He was a proud and loving father to five children:
Lamporn (Summer) Nanthalangsy of Louisville, Kentucky (mother: Kane Nanthalangsy), David Nanthalangsy of Urbana, Ohio (mother: Kane Nanthalangsy), Steven Nanthalangsy of St. Petersburg, Florida (mother: Kane Nanthalangsy), Joenah Nanthalangsy of Sidney, Ohio (mother: Eamthong Nanthalangsy), Breylon Nanthalangsy of Sidney, Ohio (mother: Eamthong Nanthalangsy).
He found immense joy and pride in his role as grandfather too:
Kaeden Baramy, Samirah Baramy, Brennan Nanthalangsy, Bryce Nanthalangsy, Ariana Nanthalangsy, and Bentley Nanthalangsy.
John is survived by his loving wife, Kheuavanh Nanthalangsy, whose companionship provided comfort and strength throughout his later years.
He will be remembered for his gentle nature, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to his family. His journey from Napong to America was marked by courage and sacrifice, and his legacy lives on in the lives of those he touched.
A memorial will be held on June 7, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney, Ohio 45365 to honor his memory.
