John C Batton Sr.

John Batton Sr. 78 of Sidney passed away peacefully on May 3,2021 of natural causes.

John was born on December 24,1942 in Urbana, Ohio to the late Clyde ("Slick11} Batton and Georgia Ann (Roberts) Batton.

John had got his jokes in for the day and prayed for his family one more time, that is after all what he lived for. On April 25,1970 John married his beautiful wife Rita (Martin) of 51 years. Together they built a loving home where they raised their three children John (Kristen) Batton Jr. Sidney, Brent (Candy) Batton, Sidney and LaCresha (Jeff) Clark, Sidney. John was a loving father who always put his family first, so it was no surprise to anyone when his heart grew even bigger when his six grandchildren entered this world. Love, gentleness, guidance and a lot of orneriness was taught to Tyler John Batton, Jessica Batton, Katie Clark, Lyndsey Batton, Sarah Clark and Jenna Batton. These children loved their grandpa John and he loved them and their stories of what they were doing at that point in their lives. Horse shows, ball games, working on cars, school dances, work and college he wanted to hear it all.

John also enjoyed watching Nascar racing, camping, cheering on the Buckeyes, working in his yard and tinkering with his lawn mowers. John was proud to be a Vietnam Veteran for the United States Army 1964-1970, and then retired from AGA gas Inc. after 35 years of service.

John is also survived by his sisters Kathyrn Long, Sidney, and Shirley Ritter, Sidney. John is already missed by Roxy his beloved wiener dog who couldn't wait for him to greet her each morning.

The family will be holding a service at a later date.
