Joe Kingseed Obituary

Joe Kingseed, 64, of Sidney, passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, July 1, 2024, at 5:30 AM.

He is preceded in death by his father, Frank C. Kingseed, a lifelong plumber of Sidney, Ohio and his mother, Betty L. (Hammond) Slagle.

Joe was a humble man and often referred to himself as “just a plumber’s son.” But if you knew him, you would know this was just him being modest. If you asked others about him, the typical response may be “what a great man.” As a serious man of few words but many skills, with a creative mind and the heart of a teacher, if he had the opportunity to help you learn something he would. However he would not shy away from the opportunity to show his sense of humor by giving you a dose of his quick wit and sarcasm.

The mantra that ‘a simple life was a happy life’ is what brought him joy. Outside activities such as projects around the house, fishing, mushroom hunting, and making maple syrup with his grandchildren made him happy. If you asked him, he would say his greatest blessing in life was his children and grandchildren. Quality time with family was his life’s greatest pleasure. Taking his grandkids to school every morning was a perfect start to his day. He loved cooking weeknight dinners for his family to help out their busy lives. He was also an avid dog lover and gave several stray dogs a loving home through the years. He had a heart of gold and he will be missed by many.

He is survived by his four children, Justin (Chet) Stewart, Jarrod (Amber) Stewart, Kelsey (Steven) Lewis, and LaTrisha (Christopher) Reed.

Also surviving are his 15 grandchildren Ralph, Jayce and Brynlee Stewart, Lillan, Kady, Jocelyn, and Eleanor Stewart, Alex and Karleigh Durian, Briana, Payson and Brooklyn Lewis, Harley, Ella and Arian Reed. He is also survived by his brother, Jerry (Kathy) Kingseed, and sisters, Judy (Bob) Behr, and Joyce Springer.

As a high school drafting student at the Upper Valley JVS, his future looked bright when he successfully won the State Drafting Contest his senior year of high school and was offered multiple college scholarships. His early career was spent in drafting, design, and machining. He completed design work on projects for the military’s M-1 tank in Lima, Ohio. Most of his career was spent as a Manufacturing Engineer at Copeland; for over 25 years in which he traveled throughout the world.

He was a proud member of the Sidney American Legion, Post #217.
