Jerry L. Herbert

Jerry L. Herbert, age 77, left this earth here to be with his Lord and Savior and now celebrating on February 24, 2022, after a short illness with pancreatic cancer.

Jerry was born February 20, 1945 in Sidney, to the late Charles Herbert and Lillian (Davenport) Herbert.  He married Ethel (Luther) Herbert on June 27, 1970 and she survives.

Also surviving are children; Mike (Shannon) Herbert of Crestview, Florida, Melissa (Roger) Griffith of Sidney, four grandchildren; Cody, Zachary, Shane, Michaela, great grandchildren; Tresslyn and Parker. Surviving also is twin sister Janice (Loren) Britt of Wapakoneta, Carolyn (Dan) Cregan of Ormond Beach, Florida and Kenneth (Carolyn) Herbert of Piqua.

Jerry was preceded in death by sister Doris Jean Sloan and brothers; Larry Hodges, Bob Hodges, James Herbert and Eddie Herbert.

Jerry was a member of the Connection Point Church of God in Sidney.  He proudly served in the US Army in Germany.  He retired after 41 years of faithful service from Copeland Corporation in Sidney where he served as Union Trustee for over 16 years. He was a 1963 graduate of Jackson Center High School and a member of the Am Vets, VFW and American Legion in Sidney. Jerry was an avid fan of the Reds and Bengals and enjoyed pheasant hunting in Kansas.  He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 7, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Connection Point Church of God, 1510 Campbell Road, Sidney.  A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Mark Kauffman officiating.  A military service will be performed by the Shelby County Veterans and US Army.     

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Wilson Hospice in Jerry’s memory.
