James A. “Tex” Madewell, age 88, of Sidney, passed away on Monday, August 21, 2023, at Lima Memorial Hospital. He was born in Huntsville, AL, on November 22, 1934 to the late Charlie and Cleeste (Craig) Madewell. On December 26, 1956, he married Ella Jean (Snowden) Madewell and she survives.
In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by one daughter: Caroline (Daniel) Maurer of Seattle; 5 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and one brother: Charles (Eula Jane) Madewell of Levelland, TX. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son: Jeffrey Allen Madewell; one infant son: James Madewell; and one sister: Nellaward Snowden.
Jim was an active member of Cornerstone Church. He retired from Everyday Manufacturing. Jim proudly served his country as a member of the US Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) and enjoyed building his own airplanes. Above all, Jim enjoyed spending time with his family.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 25, 2023, at Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney, with Pastor Harry Peterson officiating. Burial will follow in Shelby Memory Gardens in Sidney with full military honors being presented by US Navy and Shelby County Veterans. Family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.
