James Rickey Hagan, age 71, of Sidney, passed away July 27, 2022, at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima, after a brief illness with cancer.
He was born April 13, 1951, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late James and Margaret (Bracken) Hagan. On April 25, 2009, he married Debra (Heintz) Hagan and she survives.
Also surviving are daughters; Kimberly Hagan with life partner Trilby Whitham, Katy (Nick) Studebaker, sons; Brian (Stephanie) Hagan, Aaron (Carol) Conner, step-children; Jennifer (Rusty) Shaffer, Jacob (Breezy) Yinger, Joseph Yinger, grandchildren; Dewayne, Derik and Destiny Hagan, Noah Wilson and Aurora Studebaker due in December. Surviving also are step-grandchildren, Kaylynn Nunes, Madilyn, Manny and Grace Morera, Brittany McClain, Wyatt and Zachary Shaffer, Jarrett, Jadyn, Jada, Spencer and Britton Yinger and one step-great grandson Korey Burks.
James was preceded in death by his parents and brother Robert Cummins Sr.
James was a huge sports fan. He enjoyed playing, watching and talking about all sports, especially baseball, basketball and football. He loved his Indianapolis Colts and was a big fan of the Indianapolis Hoosier Basketball league. James was also involved with the Emmaus Community in Sidney. He was a member of the Maplewood United Methodist Church in Maplewood.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, July 31, 2022, from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney. Calling hours will also be held on Monday, August 1, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the G H Herrmann Funeral Home, 5141 Madison Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Michael Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at the New Crown Cemetery, Indianapolis, Indiana.
Donations may be made to St. Rita’s Hospice or the American Cancer Society in memory of James.
