James Carl Drees

James Carl Drees, 68, of Sidney, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2024, at Wilson Health, Sidney.  He was born June 8, 1955, to Marie and Carl Drees. 

Jim is survived by sons; James Zachary Drees and Azel Zimmer of Sidney, four grandkids, Chloe and Connor Drees, Daniel and Caleb Zimmer, all of Sidney, brothers; Carl Drees of Defiance, Ohio, Mike and Tony Drees of Sidney, sisters; Kathy Thieman of Minster and Mary Christner, who lives in Arkansas.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Marie and Carl Drees, and brother Dave Drees who passed away in 1993.

Jim grew up in the Catholic Church and graduated from Anna High School. He proudly served in the military and retired from Brown Industrial in Botkins. He was a very good welder according to those who worked alongside of him over the years.

Jim was a big Star Trek fan and enjoyed going to Star Trek conventions. He was very excited to meet Captain Kirk himself, William Shatner. Jim also enjoyed going camping and fishing.  Anyone who had the opportunity to eat from Jim’s garden, never went away hungry as the vegetables he grew were top notch. He would add these vegetables from the garden to his famous chili that he entered into chili cook-off’s.

He participated in Alcoholics Anonymous for many years.  Jim will be missed by many.
