Irene Louise (Schroer) Thompson

Irene Louise Thompson, age 91, of Piqua, Ohio, formerly of Sidney, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 24, 2021.  She was born April 6, 1929 in New Knoxville, Ohio to the late Selma (Schrolucke) Schroer  and Gustav Schroer.

Irene is survived by sons, Kenneth (Karen) Thompson of Centerville, Ohio; Wayne (Debra) Thompson of Sidney, Ohio; Keith (Candy) Thompson of Troy, Ohio; a sister Lois Paulat of St. Paul, MN, 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Rual; son David; granddaughter Emily and sisters Mildred and Edith.

Irene was a long time member of the First Christian Church in Sidney where she served as organist for many years.  She retired from United Telephone Company in Sidney after over 20 years of service.  After her retirement she worked in the office at Uhlman’s Department Store, later known as Stage.  She loved music, reading, and sharing time with her family.

Family and friends may visit on April 10, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Brad Thompson officiating.  Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Sidney. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Miami County, Inc., 550 Summit Avenue, #101, Troy, Ohio 45373, in Irene’s memory.

As a courtesy, wearing of masks will be observed due to the Covid 19 virus.
