George L. "Butch" Snodgrass

George L. "Butch" Snodgrass, a devoted husband, proud father, cherished grandfather, and loyal friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by the family who loved him beyond measure. He was born George Louis in Sidney Ohio on June 26, 1945, to the late Louis George Snodgrass and Iris Loraine (Goshorn).

George graduated from Sidney High School then proudly served his country in the United States Army, a commitment that reflected his deep sense of duty and integrity. He went on to serve his own community as a fire fighter with the Sidney Fire Department, eventually retiring as Assistant Fire Chief. George went on to explore other ventures such as real estate, expediting, and construction, just to name a few. He was always telling his family "Never stop learning". George would jokingly describe himself as "A jack of all trades, master of none"

George lived a life anchored in faith, service, laughter, and an unshakable love for his family. On September 14, 1968, he married the love of his life and childhood friend, Judith Ann Steele.

A lifelong outdoorsman, George found joy and peace in nature. He loved hunting, fishing, and camping, and he created countless memories on family trips to the lakes in Michigan—memories his family will forever treasure.

His greatest pride was his family. He shared 57 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Judy, a partnership filled with devotion, humor, and unwavering support. Together they raised three children—Jamie, George, and Angie—who always knew they had a father who believed in them completely.

He was Grandpa to his grandchildren, Luke, Lexy, Emily, Haylee, and bonus grand-daughters Cloe and Lily Snider, and a joyful great-grandfather to Leia and Elouise. His presence will live on in their stories, their laughter, and the love he poured into each of them.

Known for his quick wit and remarkable storytelling, George had a gift for turning everyday moments into memories. He was the heart of a very close family—their patriarch—and his love bound them together in a way that will continue to guide them.

George is survived by his wife Judith, his children Jamie Arnold (Kevin Boroff) of Sidney, George D. Snodgrass (Kelly Knouff) of Kansas City, and Angie (Steve) Stepler of Sidney, six grandchildren Luke Stepler of Sidney, Lexy (Juan) Poveda of Columbus, Emily (Tyler) Musser of Sidney, Haylee Snodgrass, Cloe and Lily Snider of Columbus. Two great-grandchildren, Leia Yancey and Elouise Musser. His sisters Sharon (Mike) McLean of Florida, Peggy Tester of Idaho, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

George is preceded in death by his bonus daughter Karen Keeten, his brother David Snodgrass, his sister Joann Lenhart, and brothers-in-law Cecil Steele, Robert Steele and Robert Tester as well as his beloved and devoted dog "Pete".

George was a believer, and his family finds comfort and strength in knowing exactly where he is and who he is with now. Their faith assures them that this is not goodbye, but "see you later." He was loved immensely and deeply. His legacy of love, humor, faith, and courage will carry on through every life he touched.

Visitation will be at Connection Point Church of God - 1510 Campbell Rd. Sidney. OH Saturday January 10th 10:00-11:30 am. Celebration of Life and lunch following.
