Fred or Figley— as most knew him — was known for his quick wit, his sharp sense of humor, and his ability to make just about anyone laugh, even on their worst days. He had a story (or three) for every occasion, and if you were lucky enough to hear one, you probably laughed until you cried.
Beyond his humor, Fred was a loyal friend, a loving family man, and someone who believed that a good joke and a warm heart could get you through just about anything. Whether he was sharing a cup of coffee, swapping old stories, or teasing those he loved most, he had a way of making people feel seen and cared for.
Fred was a Stationary Engineer at multiple manufacturing facilities throughout his career. He also owned and operated a locksmith business called "Sidney Lock Shop". He loved wood working, specifically crafting steam engines and furniture. Fred enjoyed walking in Tawawa Park with his wife Carol.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church, 320 E. Russell Road, Sidney, Ohio 45365. Refreshments will follow at the fellowship hall.
