Evelyn M. Pulfer, age 94, passed away peacefully at 8:25 am on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at Fair Haven Nursing Home, Sidney, Ohio. She was fondly known as Aunt Betty.
She was born on September 19, 1926 on the family farm, east of Jackson Center on State Route 274 to Roy Vernando Shroyer and Esta Mae Weatherby Shroyer. Evelyn was the youngest of seven children born to this marriage: Dallas, Don, Ruth, Imogene, Lloyd Verlin “Bud”, Chester and then Evelyn.
Evelyn married Gerald F. Pulfer on October 17, 1942, and they resided in Port Jefferson, Ohio for most of their life before moving to Sidney.
Surviving are her son Jerry Pulfer, Troy, Ohio, and Diane Pulfer-Stephenson, Sidney, Ohio, three grandsons, Kreg Allison and his wife, Helene, Shawn Stephenson and fiancé Erin Counts and Matthew Stephenson. She also has 3 great grandchildren, Evelyn and Eleanor Allison and Jarrett Stephenson.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Gerald Pulfer; her parents, her six siblings and her son-in-law Jarrett Stephenson.
During her long life, Evelyn was an eternal optimist who stood ready to help others, especially her family. She will be remembered for her cooking skills. She enjoyed her roses she had at home and her outlet was going to a Bingo game. She retired from Clancy’s Restaurant.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family asks that people use their time and treasure to do God’s work by promoting peace and loving one another. May we honor her memory with our acts of kindness and love and remember her well when we see or smell roses. The family thanks you for your kind thoughts.
Evelyn will be buried next to her husband, Gerald Pulfer at Glen Cemetery, Port Jefferson, Ohio.
There will be a viewing at Adams Funeral Home on Thursday, November 19, 2020 from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm. Social distancing and masks will be required per Governor DeWine’s mandate.
There will be no funeral. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.
