Esther M. Johnson

Esther M. Johnson, age 89, of Sidney, passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2022, at her residence.  She was born on January 26, 1933 in Sidney to the late Robert and Rosella (Johnson) Stockton.

Esther is survived by five sons: James D. Franklin of Sidney, Timothy B. Franklin of Clearwater, FL, Richard Franklin of Crystal River, FL, Rodney (Melissa) Franklin of Troy and Ronald Lee Franklin of Sidney; three daughters: Claudia (Thomas) Block of Troy, Diana (Ron) Burns of Sidney and Deelanea Johnson of Sidney; one step son: Lee Banta of MI; one step daughter: Deborah Vondenhuvael of Sidney; three sisters: Henrietta Stockton, Sylvia Hudson and Shirley Johnson, all of Sidney; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands: John David Franklin, Sr. and Lee Johnson; two sons: Jerrold Franklin and John Franklin, Jr.; three brothers; and three sisters.

Esther was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in Sidney.  She was a former teacher and bus driver for Head Start in Sidney.  Esther was the neighborhood mother and was loved by everyone.  She enjoyed playing bingo.  The family would like to express a special thanks to her comforter and niece, Bertha Jones, for the care and love she showed to Esther.

Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 – 3:30 PM on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney, Ohio.
